Cabernet Sauvignon (55%) from the historic Yountville Cabernet Vineyard, Merlot (45%) from Nine Suns/Houyi Vineyard (Pritchard Hill, CA). Aged 22 months in new French oak, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Gorgeous notes of cassis, blackberry, violets, dried aromatic herbs, graphite, black licorice fill the nose. The palate is rich but very fresh, with dark fruit notes, fresh flowers, and a delicate stony minerality accenting the silky entry, plush texture, and terrific length.
"The 2014 Reserve Proprietary Red doesn’t have the structure of the 2013, but then few 2014s do. Nevertheless, what it lacks in structure and tannin it makes up for in its suppleness, wonderful succulence and fleshy mouthfeel. Dense purple, like its older sibling, with the blueberry and black raspberry notes and a flowery essence, this full-bodied, silky textured wine should drink beautifully for the next 15-20 years." Robert Parker 95pts (Oct 28, 2016)."
